As you know, the month of March is Putman Plumbing’s “Go Green” month in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
Going green doesn’t have to cost you a great deal of green, however. There are inexpensive ways to implement water conservation into your daily routine. Consider your daily and weekly water usage. Although it’s difficult to eliminate water usage from your day, you can certainly reduce your overall daily consumption. Make it a family game to find ways to save. Reducing shower times is a great and simple way to lower your monthly water bill. Also, only run the dishwasher when full. Surprisingly, it is more energy efficient to run the dishwasher instead of washing dishes by hand. When washing clothes, run large loads of laundry only using cold water. Most newer formulas of detergents will now clean just as efficiently in cold water temps. Consider a timer for watering your lawn in the evenings since water will evaporate in the summer sunshine. When you plan your landscaping, choose plants and bushes that don’t require much watering or maintenance. This will save you green over time on your monthly watering bill.
